Overview

The Timber Plant Maintenance Technician at West Fraser in Jacksonville Beach is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of the planer machine used in lumber processing. This role involves preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and ensuring a quality finish of the product while maintaining safety standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment and safety rules
  • Perform critical measurements using a caliper
  • Set, monitor, and maintain the planer machine
  • Feed the Planer and ensure a constant lumber flow
  • Keep machine set to proper tolerances
  • Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance
  • Change knives on the machinery
  • Assist maintenance on major repairs of machines
  • Conduct housekeeping as assigned by supervisor
  • Complete West Fraser Qualified Millwright training and assessments
