Job Description

Overview

The Therapist position at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi involves examining, diagnosing, and administering treatments for patients with speech and hearing disorders. The role requires collaboration with other healthcare professionals and supervision of support staff while focusing on the rehabilitation of speech, language, and oral motor disorders.

Key responsibilities

  • Examine and test patients for speech and hearing disorders
  • Administer remedial treatments and evaluate therapeutic techniques
  • Document test results and recommend appropriate treatment
  • Perform evaluations focusing on language skills, speech fluency, and articulation
  • Supervise and instruct supportive staff, volunteers, and students
  • Interpret and carry out physician prescriptions and maintain patient confidentiality
  • Maintain communication with patients regarding their progress and therapeutic issues
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as requested

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited Speech Language Pathology program
  • Texas Speech Language Pathologist License or eligible to obtain within 30 days
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) within one year
  • BLS certification from American Heart Association
  • Patient evaluation and rehabilitation techniques
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience in speech therapy preferred, but new graduates accepted
