Job Description

Overview

The Speech Pathologist at CHRISTUS Health will be responsible for assessing, planning, evaluating, and implementing care for assigned patients across various age groups, from pediatrics to geriatrics. This role includes adhering to standards of Speech Therapy Practice and providing technical care while supporting the strategic goals of the organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Gather pertinent data from medical charts and other caregivers
  • Independently assess all patient types assigned
  • Recognize additional needs during evaluations and exercise good judgment
  • Interpret results and formulate relevant, measurable goals
  • Reassess patient progress regularly per department policy
  • Identify appropriate equipment and make referrals as necessary
  • Design treatment plans addressing identified problems and discharge needs
  • Deliver effective treatment for communication, cognition, and swallowing disorders
  • Monitor patients during treatment and report adverse reactions
  • Develop innovative treatment methods, including group sessions

Required skills

  • Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Current Louisiana SLP License
  • BLS certification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Certifications in Vital Stim, FEES, Metronome, Big and Loud preferred
  • English language proficiency, bilingual preferred
