Job Description

Overview

The Occupational Therapist at CHRISTUS Health is responsible for planning and conducting therapy programs aimed at helping patients regain functioning or adjust to disabilities. This role involves direct patient interaction, evaluations, and reporting as well as supervising support staff and volunteers in the therapeutic process.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and conduct occupational therapy programs
  • Teach patients skills and techniques for activities participation
  • Evaluate patient's reactions and prepare progress reports
  • Supervise volunteers, students, and support staff
  • Interpret and implement physician orders
  • Ensure safe care and protect confidential information
  • Maintain professional communication and economic use of resources
  • Create a positive work and therapy environment
  • Perform diverse duties as requested

Required skills

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Knowledge of American Occupational Therapy Association Code of Ethics
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Current license by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy Examiners
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification
