Job Description

Overview

The Occupational Therapist at CHRISTUS Health in Santa Fe, New Mexico is responsible for assessing and treating patients with various impairments to help them achieve optimal independence in daily activities. This role involves developing and monitoring care plans, administering therapy modalities, and collaborating with patients, their families, and an interdisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients before administering treatments, incorporating psychological and physical assessments.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients and healthcare workers.
  • Administer various occupational therapy modalities to assist patients in rehabilitation.
  • Maintain communication with the referring physician regarding patient progress.
  • Create home programs for patients and train families as necessary.
  • Direct and oversee Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Assistants.
  • Maintain accurate patient treatment records and documentation.
  • Promote a team approach in delivering rehabilitation services.

Required skills

  • Doctorate, Masters, or Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current New Mexico American Occupational Therapy Association licensure
  • BLS certification
  • At least one year of Occupational Therapy experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Decision-making and time management abilities
  • Knowledge of therapeutic exercises and modalities
