Overview

The Occupational Therapist at CHRISTUS Health in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is responsible for assessing and treating patients affected by illness, injury, or impairments to help them achieve optimal independence in daily activities. The role involves developing and implementing care plans, administering therapies, and collaborating with patients, families, and an interdisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate each patient before administering treatments, incorporating psychological and physical issues.
  • Develop and establish goals and a plan of care in collaboration with patients and their families.
  • Administer and direct occupational therapy treatments and modalities.
  • Acquire and check safety of appropriate equipment used for therapy.
  • Create home programs for patients and train families as needed.
  • Direct and oversee COTAs and Rehabilitation Assistants.
  • Maintain records of all patient treatments and document appropriately.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and maintain professional competence.

Required skills

  • Doctorate, Masters, or Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current New Mexico American Occupational Therapy Association licensure
  • BLS certification
  • One year of Occupational Therapy experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Skills in assessment/evaluation, decision-making and time management
  • Organizational skills
