Job Description

Overview

The Occupational Therapist will work in a hospital-based inpatient setting in New Bedford, Massachusetts, focusing on diverse adult and geriatric patient populations recovering from various medical conditions. This role involves comprehensive evaluations, individualized treatment planning, and hands-on interventions aimed at promoting functional independence for patients.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations
  • Develop individualized treatment plans
  • Deliver interventions focused on functional independence
  • Provide ADL and IADL training
  • Conduct therapeutic exercise and activity
  • Facilitate cognitive and perceptual retraining
  • Make equipment recommendations
  • Train caregivers and assist in discharge planning
  • Collaborate with nursing, physical therapy, speech therapy, case management, and physicians
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and coordination with care team

Required skills

  • Occupational Therapist license in Massachusetts
  • 2 years of inpatient rehab experience
  • BLS certification
  • Clinical skills in patient evaluation and treatment planning
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration abilities
