Overview

The Children's Center of Hamden is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Temporary Lifeguard to support their therapeutic recreation programming during the summer months. The role involves ensuring a safe and positive pool environment for children and adolescents, monitoring swimmers, enforcing pool rules, and responding to emergencies.

Key responsibilities

  • Actively monitor pool and deck areas to ensure swimmer safety
  • Enforce pool rules and safety procedures respectfully
  • Respond to emergencies, including rescues and first aid
  • Conduct routine safety checks of the pool area and equipment
  • Maintain a clean and organized pool environment
  • Support staff with safe swimmer supervision during programming
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support aquatics programming

Required skills

  • Current Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross or equivalent)
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
  • Experience lifeguarding in a pool setting preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to remain alert and responsive in a fast-paced environment
  • Professionalism and dependability
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Strong swimming ability and rescue skills
