Job Description

Overview

duBreton is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their Quality department in Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec. In this role, you will ensure the quality and compliance of food products by conducting physicochemical, microbiological, and organoleptic analyses according to current standards. The position involves collaboration with various departments to support food safety and requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Apply and respect laboratory best practices according to ISO 17025 standards
  • Collect, prepare, and analyze samples as per the quality system laboratory program
  • Ensure compliance of raw materials, in-process products, and finished products
  • Identify, document, and follow up on non-conformities related to analysis results
  • Interpret analysis results and advise management on potential contamination sources
  • Maintain complete traceability of samples
  • Compile results and prepare clear, structured analysis reports
  • Ensure proper calibration and functioning of laboratory equipment
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by suggesting ways to reduce analysis time and costs

Required skills

  • DEC in process technology, dietetics, food processing, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and SQF programs
  • Relevant experience in a food processing environment
  • Proficient with computer tools
  • Strong organizational skills, autonomy, and initiative
  • Problem-solving orientation with good operational judgement
  • Effective communication skills and teamwork
  • Ability to manage time and make decisions in line with company objectives
  • Ability to work in a refrigerated environment (approximately 4°C)
  • Mandatory use of personal protective equipment in the factory
