Overview

The Technical Ingredient Specialist at PURIS Proteins will play a key role in enhancing the value of pea protein side streams. This position focuses on designing and developing novel technologies and processes to transform these by-products into high-value ingredients, collaborating closely with various teams to address customer needs and drive product innovation.

Key responsibilities

  • Conceive, design, and develop new technologies for upgrading pea starch, fiber, and solubles
  • Lead laboratory and pilot-scale trials for new processes
  • Develop deep scientific understanding of pea ingredients and their performance in food systems
  • Partner with manufacturing and operations for scalable technology integration
  • Generate intellectual property and contribute to the ingredient technology roadmap
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define target applications and validate market relevance
  • Engage with customers to understand unmet needs and assess ingredient fit
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert and mentor junior scientists
  • Stay updated on research in plant-based ingredient processing

Required skills

  • PhD in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related discipline
  • Strong background in starch chemistry and dietary fiber processing
  • Experience in process development and technology transfer
  • Track record in applied research and innovation
  • Hands-on experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in leveraging AI tools for work efficiency
