Overview

The Team Leader - Mortgage at Midland States Bank will oversee a team of mortgage loan originators, managing the origination of residential mortgage loans and ensuring that the team meets sales and compliance goals. This role emphasizes a customer-centric approach while driving team performance and optimizing loan production processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a team of mortgage professionals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Coach and develop team members, conducting performance management activities.
  • Cultivate relationships with referral sources to generate new business.
  • Achieve production goals for personal and team mortgage loan sales.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and bank policies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Support bank-sponsored events and participate in sales calls.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, real estate, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading teams.
  • 5 years' experience in real estate/mortgage sales.
  • NMLS State License or Federal NMLS Registration.
  • Knowledge of FHA, FNMA, and FHLMS underwriting guidelines.
  • Strong business development and sales skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
  • Ability to analyze customer income and debts.
