Overview

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Team Lead for their Resinsurance Accounting team in Toronto. This role offers the opportunity for career progression and development in a company experiencing significant growth, along with a competitive compensation package. The Team Lead will oversee a team of Reinsurance Accountants, manage daily operations, and enhance employee skills while ensuring strong stakeholder communication.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Reinsurance Accountants.
  • Oversee day-to-day execution and workload planning.
  • Ensure accurate handling of technical bookings for assigned treaty broker/cedent accounts.
  • Perform and review SOX and operational controls.
  • Communicate proactively with stakeholders including brokers and internal teams.
  • Support development and improvement of processes, controls, and KPIs.
  • Identify efficiency opportunities and lead improvement initiatives.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in reinsurance accounting.
  • Demonstrated people management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Nonlife reinsurance technical accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with eMessaging; SICS is a plus.
  • Knowledge of control frameworks (SOX and operational controls).
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team motivation skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder interaction abilities.
