Overview

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Team Lead for Resinsurance Accounting in Richmond Hill, Ontario, to lead the Toronto Reinsurance Team. The role offers an opportunity for career progression, a collaborative culture with hybrid work flexibility, and a compensation package that includes an annual bonus and pension matching program.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Reinsurance Accountants.
  • Oversee day-to-day execution and workload planning.
  • Perform and review SOX and operational controls.
  • Ensure accurate quarterly and monthly closing tasks.
  • Communicate proactively with brokers, cedents, and internal teams.
  • Support development of processes, controls, and KPIs.
  • Identify efficiency opportunities and lead improvement initiatives.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent
  • 5-8+ years in reinsurance accounting
  • People management experience
  • Expertise in Nonlife reinsurance technical accounting
  • Advanced Excel and knowledge of Word/PowerPoint
  • Experience with eMessaging, SICS is a plus
  • Knowledge of control frameworks (SOX/operational controls)
  • Strong leadership and coaching ability
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder interaction skills
  • Adaptability and continuous improvement mindset
