Overview

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Team Lead for Resinsurance Accounting to join a growing global reinsurance company in Toronto. This role will focus on leading a team of Reinsurance Accountants, overseeing daily operations, and enhancing processes while contributing to the company's growth and development.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Reinsurance Accountants.
  • Oversee day-to-day execution and workload planning.
  • Ensure proper handling of technical bookings for assigned accounts.
  • Perform and review SOX and operational controls.
  • Communicate proactively with brokers, cedents, and internal teams.
  • Support development of processes, controls, and KPIs.
  • Identify efficiency opportunities and lead improvement initiatives.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • 5-8+ years in reinsurance accounting (Nonlife)
  • Demonstrated people management experience
  • Experience collaborating with Claims, Payments/Collections, and Underwriting
  • Senior expertise in Nonlife reinsurance technical accounting
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of control framework (SOX / operational controls)
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills
  • Adaptability and continuous improvement mindset
