Overview

The Teacher at United Counseling Service of Bennington County is responsible for developing and implementing curriculum that aligns with Head Start's philosophies and goals. This role involves engaging with children, parents, and center staff to provide pre-school educational opportunities while ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement curriculum consistent with Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Conduct home visits and family conferences.
  • Complete required observations, assessments, and screenings.
  • Maintain a safe and welcoming atmosphere for children and parents.
  • Encourage parental involvement in educational activities.
  • Collaborate with staff and specialists to deliver individualized services.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by regulations.
  • Supervise classroom activities and staff, including assistants and volunteers.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Vermont licensure in Early Childhood Education
  • Experience teaching pre-school children
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
