Job Description

Overview

The Teacher at Mount Washington Preschool and Child Care Center is responsible for creating an enriched and stimulating environment for children. The role involves collaborating with co-teachers to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum, ensuring a safe and healthy indoor and outdoor setting, and documenting children's growth and development.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with co-teachers for curriculum planning and implementation
  • Assume responsibility for classroom management
  • Assist with meal preparation and clean-up, promoting family-style eating
  • Support supervisor in maintaining compliance with state licensing codes and NAEYC standards
  • Document children's developmental growth and conduct parent conferences
  • Model positive behavior and caregiving practices
  • Attend classroom and center meetings and training workshops
  • Administer first aid as needed and manage daily classroom operations

Required skills

  • Working towards AA, BA or MA in Early Childhood Development or related field
  • 24 units in child development and 3 Infant/Toddler units if applicable
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Strong knowledge of child development theory and play-based practices
  • 1-year experience with children or 6 months experience in an infant room
  • Experience in developing and documenting developmental portfolios
  • Knowledge of Community Care Licensing Title 22 and NAEYC criteria
  • Computer skills: Internet and Word Processing Software
