Job Description

Overview

The Teacher at United Counseling Service is responsible for developing and implementing curriculum aligned with Head Start philosophies. This role focuses on providing educational opportunities for preschool children and fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for both children and their families.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement curriculum consistent with Head Start Performance Standards
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, staff, and consultants
  • Conduct home visits and family conferences to inform families about their child's experience
  • Complete observations, assessments, and required screenings
  • Maintain accurate records for each enrolled child as required by regulations
  • Encourage parental involvement in the educational process
  • Supervise classroom staff, including teacher assistants and interns
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children in the classroom

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • Vermont licensure in Early Childhood Education
  • Experience teaching preschool children preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
