Overview

The Tax Manager role at CIG in Englewood, Colorado involves transitioning from compliance to a strategic partnership position within a complex tax environment. This newly created position allows for the building of best practices and expanded responsibilities while working with a collaborative team that supports a diverse portfolio of financial and philanthropic activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation and review of federal and state tax returns across various entities including partnerships and trusts.
  • Lead tax planning and projections while modeling tax impacts of investment decisions.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors for filings and complex positions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely compliance across all entities throughout the tax calendar.
  • Support tax structuring for real estate and private equity investments.
  • Conduct technical research on different taxation matters and provide clear recommendations.
  • Review K-1s and maintain organized documentation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in the tax function.
  • Monitor legislative changes and assess their impact.

Required skills

  • 5+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or a family office environment.
  • Strong expertise in partnership taxation, trust and estate taxation, and high-net-worth individual tax planning.
  • Experience with real estate investments, private equity structures, or multi-entity ownership.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Taxation (required).
  • Master's degree in Taxation (preferred).
  • CPA designation (required; candidates close to completion may be considered).
