Overview

The Tank Lead Welder plays a crucial hands-on leadership role in overseeing welding and fabrication operations related to tank production in a manufacturing environment. This position involves ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality standards while training and supervising team members to meet production goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the work of tank welders and fabricators
  • Schedule and prioritize welding and assembly tasks
  • Perform complex welds and conduct quality inspections
  • Train, coach, and mentor junior team members and new hires
  • Monitor workflow and ensure adherence to project timelines and safety protocols
  • Review and approve timecards and manage time punches
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement disciplinary actions
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Collaborate with other departments on production schedules
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years of industrial or commercial welding/fabrication experience
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and welding techniques
  • Leadership skills and experience in a production environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of safety protocols related to welding and tank operations
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
