Overview

The Tank Lead Welder plays a crucial leadership role in overseeing welding and fabrication operations for tank production in a manufacturing environment. This position involves training team members, managing workflow, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met while collaborating with other departments to achieve production goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the work of tank welders and fabricators
  • Schedule and prioritize tank welding and assembly tasks
  • Perform complex welds and conduct quality inspections
  • Train, coach, and mentor junior team members and new hires
  • Monitor workflow and ensure adherence to project timelines
  • Review and approve timecards and manage time punches
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement disciplinary actions
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Collaborate with other departments on production schedules
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and delivery standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of welding/fabrication experience with leadership responsibilities
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and welding techniques
  • Experience in a production or metal fabrication environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
