Overview

The Sustainability Manager at Wake Forest University will lead the implementation of sustainability initiatives within campus dining operations, focusing on recycling, waste minimization, resource conservation, and local food sourcing. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to develop and execute a sustainable dining strategy while educating and engaging the campus community.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a sustainable dining strategy.
  • Partner with Solid Waste & Recycling for a robust recycling program.
  • Manage energy and water conservation initiatives.
  • Acquire Green Restaurant Association certification for dining locations.
  • Oversee fryer oil recycling program and track local spending.
  • Draft and update the Dining Services Sustainability Plan.
  • Research sustainable single-use disposable alternatives.
  • Train Dining Services staff on sustainability objectives.
  • Create marketing and education campaigns focused on sustainability.
  • Maintain sustainability program information on the Dining Services website.

Required skills

  • Degree in sustainability or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a sustainability role.
  • Knowledge of environmental issues and food operations.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
