Overview

The Surgical Technologist at OhioHealth plays a crucial role in preparing for surgical procedures by gathering necessary supplies and maintaining a sterile environment. This position requires collaboration with the surgical team to assist with various tasks during operations and ensure patient safety post-operatively.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare for surgical cases by obtaining and preparing supplies, equipment, and instruments.
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field, presenting instruments to the operating team.
  • Assist the surgeon as a second assistant during procedures.
  • Participate in post-procedure cleaning and equipment maintenance.
  • Engage in unit operations to support departmental efficiency and training of new personnel.
  • Demonstrate competency in various surgical procedures and techniques.

Required skills

  • Knowledge of surgical procedures and sterile technique
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
