Overview

OhioHealth is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join their Surgery Main team in Columbus, Ohio. The role involves preparing for surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and assisting the surgical team in various clinical tasks. This position offers a sign-on bonus and emphasizes the importance of collaboration and learning in a caring healthcare setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare for surgical cases by obtaining and preparing supplies, equipment, and instruments.
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field during procedures.
  • Act as a second assistant to the surgeon, performing draping and exposure duties.
  • Assist with post-operative cleaning and supply maintenance.
  • Participate in unit operations to ensure departmental efficiency.
  • Mentor new associates and maintain competencies.
  • Handle instruments according to sterile techniques and operational guidelines.

Required skills

  • Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent military training.
  • At least 10 years of experience as a Surgery Technician if not enrolled in a formal program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of the operating room environment.
  • Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and communicate effectively with the surgical team.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills in high-pressure situations.
