Job Description

Overview

OhioHealth is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join their Bone and Joint Surgery team in Columbus, Ohio. This role involves preparing surgical rooms, providing instruments to surgeons, and assisting with various tasks during procedures, all while maintaining a sterile environment. A sign-on bonus of $7500 is available for eligible external applicants.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare for surgical cases by obtaining and preparing supplies, equipment, and instruments
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field and present instruments to the operating team
  • Act as a second assistant to the surgeon during procedures
  • Assist in the cleaning and re-stocking of the OR and equipment post-procedure
  • Participate in unit operations to contribute to departmental efficiency
  • Mentor new associates and maintain annual competencies

Required skills

  • Completion of OhioHealth OR ST Fellowship or equivalent experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • BLS certification from American Heart Association
  • Strong clinical knowledge of OR environment
  • Ability to anticipate surgeon's needs
  • Experience as a Surgical Technician (10+ years preferred or military training)
  • Understanding of surgical procedures and sterile techniques
