Job Description

Overview

The Neurosurgery Physician Assistant (PA) role at iRecruitMD involves providing advanced clinical care to patients with neurosurgical conditions in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and surgical environments. The PA will collaborate closely with neurosurgeons and the multidisciplinary care team to evaluate patients, assist in surgeries, manage perioperative care, and ensure continuity throughout the treatment process.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including history and physical examinations
  • Assist in neurosurgical procedures, including first assist duties
  • Manage preoperative and postoperative care for neurosurgical patients
  • Conduct daily inpatient rounds and coordinate care plans
  • Order, interpret, and document diagnostic studies and laboratory results
  • Develop and implement treatment plans under physician supervision
  • Perform bedside procedures within scope of practice
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, procedures, and recovery plans
  • Participate in outpatient clinics, follow-up visits, and post-discharge care coordination
  • Document clinical encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
  • Collaborate with nursing, therapy, case management, and other support services
  • Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and continuing education activities

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current Physician Assistant certification
  • Active or eligible state licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • BLS and ACLS certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to function effectively in high-acuity and fast-paced environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and documentation abilities
  • Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care
  • Prior experience in neurosurgery, surgery, or critical care preferred but not required
