Overview

VieMed Healthcare Staffing is looking for a skilled Physician Assistant to join their Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery team in Lafayette, Louisiana. This full-time position offers the chance to provide comprehensive patient care alongside experienced surgeons and advanced practice providers in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform inpatient rounding on postoperative and preoperative patients
  • Conduct surgical consultations for diagnostic assessments and treatment planning
  • Provide emergency room call coverage, including urgent patient evaluations
  • Manage a dedicated outpatient clinic, overseeing 15-20 postoperative patients weekly
  • Assist in complex cardiovascular and thoracic procedures

Required skills

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current certification/licensure as a PA in Louisiana
  • Prior experience in cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgical settings (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Ability to perform in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings
  • Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills
  • Team-oriented approach and commitment to patient-centered care
