Overview

University Hospitals is seeking a General Surgery Physician to join their Department of Surgery at the Cleveland Medical Center. This role involves providing direct patient care, managing medical evaluations and treatments, and supervising medical students and residents, while contributing to the mission of excellence in patient care and education.

Key responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care including physical examinations, evaluations, and diagnoses.
  • Prescribes medications and treatment regimens based on medical conditions.
  • Refers patients to specialists and other relevant care components.
  • Trains and supervises medical students and residents.
  • Directs patient care activities of nursing and support staff.
  • Follows departmental policies and safety standards.
  • Participates in health promotion, education, and prevention programs.
  • Maintains productivity thresholds and adherence to physician obligations.

Required skills

  • Doctorate Degree in Medicine or Osteopathy
  • Unrestricted medical license
  • Fellowship training in relevant specialties
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical medical care standards
  • Ability to maintain quality and infection control standards
  • Supervisory and training skills for clinical professionals
  • Knowledge of relevant drugs and patient care aids
  • Communication skills in both verbal and written forms
  • Experience with EPIC
  • Board certification or eligibility in specified medical specialty
