Overview

Ascend Medical Staffing is seeking a Cardiovascular Physician Assistant for a locum tenens position in Urbana, Illinois. The role requires immediate availability with a focus on first assisting in cardiovascular surgeries, including experience in surgical procedures and patient care.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide first assist in cardiovascular surgeries
  • Engage in perioperative patient care and inpatient rounding
  • Perform Endoscopic Vein Harvest (EVH) procedures
  • Be available for weeknight and weekend call as needed
  • Ensure compliance with Health Attestation Form requirements
  • Manage scheduling for 3-4 weeks of consistent coverage per month

Required skills

  • Active PA-C certification
  • ACLS Certification (AHA) required
  • Experience in surgical first assisting with multiple years in the OR
  • Experience with ECMO preferred
  • Ability to obtain Illinois license if not already held
