Job Description

Overview

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) at U.S. Tsubaki Automotive, LLC plays a crucial role in ensuring that Tier Two suppliers comply with Quality System requirements and drives continuous improvement across the supply base. This position involves performing supplier audits, leading corrective action activities, and coordinating closely with Manufacturing and Quality Assurance to address production and new product launch issues.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop Supplier Quality expectations aligned with IATF 16949 requirements
  • Review supplier compliance with Quality System standards
  • Monitor and report occurrences related to supply base non-conformities
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 20-30 Tier Two suppliers
  • Plan and conduct periodic supplier audits based on risk
  • Track, record, and ensure closure of corrective actions
  • Develop strong relationships with Tier Two suppliers
  • Coordinate internal packaging requirements and maintain databases
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve supplier-related issues
  • Utilize quality tools to improve supplier process capability and performance
  • Lead continuous improvement projects with suppliers
  • Prepare and deliver reports regarding supplier performance to management

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 3-7 years of experience in supplier quality or packaging engineering
  • Experience with Tier One/Tier Two suppliers
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Familiarity with ISO/IATF quality management system procedures
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, control plans, and process validation
  • Proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational and planning skills to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with ERP systems
