Overview

The Transportation Maintenance Supervisor at McLane Company is responsible for overseeing all repairs, maintenance, and capital expense projects to ensure high efficiency in operations. This role includes teaching and mentoring technicians, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop budgets for repair, maintenance, supplies, and spare parts inventory.
  • Negotiate maintenance contracts and manage third-party support.
  • Coordinate daily activities of technicians and inspire productivity and teamwork.
  • Train and develop the team on technical aspects of maintenance.
  • Utilize maintenance software to optimize asset utilization.
  • Monitor expenses and manage spare parts inventory.
  • Build strong vendor and contractor relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with safety processes and regulations.
  • Provide hands-on repairs as needed.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule for operational needs.

Required skills

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience in heavy maintenance discipline.
  • 5+ years of maintenance supervision experience.
  • Outstanding leadership qualities and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Experience in diesel repairs and heavy-duty tractor-trailer repairs.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration maintenance.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License (prefer Class A).
  • Computer skills including Windows and MS Office.
  • ASE certifications in Medium/Heavy Truck maintenance preferred.
