Overview

Endeavor Health is seeking a Supervisor for the Core Lab MLS at Evanston Hospital. This full-time role involves leading a team of Medical Technologists and managing clinical laboratory tests while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of Medical Technologists and support staff
  • Assign and coordinate work schedules for efficient operations
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and facilitate professional development
  • Oversee clinical laboratory tests including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and blood banking
  • Ensure adherence to laboratory procedures and safety standards
  • Manage inventory levels and oversee equipment maintenance
  • Develop and maintain quality control and assurance programs
  • Participate in inspections and audits, taking corrective actions as needed
  • Supervise operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate routine maintenance
  • Review and validate test results for accuracy and timely reporting
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to communicate findings effectively
  • Provide training and ongoing education to laboratory staff
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • 5 years experience as a Medical Technologist with leadership experience
  • 2 years experience as Senior MLS or Technical specialist
  • Experience with new instrumentation and lab information systems preferred
  • Personnel management experience preferred
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT/MLS)
  • Additional certifications in specific laboratory disciplines preferred
