Overview

Peckham Industries is seeking a Superintendent II to oversee multiple construction projects in Palmer, Massachusetts. This advanced field leadership role requires strong technical skills and independence, focusing on complex work such as DOT and highway paving operations while fostering workforce development through training and mentorship.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate multiple job sites, ensuring safety, quality, production, and scheduling standards are met
  • Manage Job Production Plans (JPPs) and collaborate with the Project Manager on planning and scheduling
  • Maintain project oversight through daily logs, progress tracking, and understanding project contracts
  • Proactively resolve field issues and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
  • Lead safety culture initiatives including toolbox talks and safety meetings
  • Mentor foremen and crew leaders to support their career growth and development
  • Facilitate effective communication between field teams and other internal groups

Required skills

  • 7+ years of relevant construction experience, particularly in highway, DOT, and/or night paving projects
  • Demonstrated experience as a Superintendent or in a similar field leadership role
  • Strong technical knowledge of asphalt paving, milling, grading, and heavy highway work
  • Ability to train and share knowledge with team members
  • Understanding of construction budgets, job costing, and crew planning
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with construction scheduling software is a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret project specifications and plans
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
