Job Description

Overview

The Connecticut Institute for Communities, Inc. is seeking hourly Substitute Assistant Teachers for their Danbury Early Learning Programs (HEAD START & EARLY START). This flexible role caters to candidates looking for part-time work, providing opportunities for college students and parents while supporting children's daily activities in a fast-paced environment. Longer-term assignments may also be available.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist classrooms in maintaining routines, curriculum, meals, and related activities for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.
  • Provide coverage for planned staff vacations and spontaneous, unplanned needs.
  • Work under the direction of the Substitute Coordinator and a daily classroom Teacher.
  • Support the execution of scheduled activities and ensure a safe environment.

Required skills

  • Childcare or preschool experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalence (preferred)
  • Age 18 years or older
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs
