Overview

Connecticut Institute for Communities, Inc. is seeking hourly Substitute Staff for their Danbury Early Learning Programs, specifically in HEAD START and SCHOOL READINESS. This position offers maximum scheduling flexibility and opportunities for occupational growth, making it an ideal part-time opportunity for college students and parents.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist classrooms in maintaining routines, curriculum, meals, and related activities for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years old
  • Work under the direction of the Substitute Coordinator and daily classroom Teacher
  • Cover planned staff vacations and respond to day-of unplanned coverage needs
  • Engage with children and support their learning and development

Required skills

  • Childcare or preschool experience
  • Interest in Early Childhood Education
  • Flexibility in scheduling
  • Bilingual communication
  • High school diploma or GED equivalence (preferred)
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs
