Overview

Dedicated School Staffing is looking for compassionate and reliable Substitute Special Education Aides to support students with disabilities at the North Point Educational Service Center Alternative Learning Center in Sandusky, Ohio. This part-time, on-call position is essential for providing individualized support to ensure students can meet their IEP goals and participate fully in the school day.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide individualized or small-group support to students with academic, behavioral, physical, or developmental needs
  • Assist with implementation of IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications as directed by certified staff
  • Support student communication, social interaction, and classroom engagement
  • Assist with personal care needs when required
  • Apply positive behavior support strategies and follow behavior intervention plans
  • Supervise students across various school settings
  • Support use of assistive technology or adaptive equipment as directed
  • Document observations, incidents, or progress as required
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and support teams

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Ohio educational aide permit or applicable licensure
  • Clean criminal background check
  • Strong patience, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow structured routines and individualized student plans
  • Ability to safely assist students with physical needs when necessary
  • Experience working in special education or with students with disabilities (preferred)
  • Training in behavior intervention or crisis de-escalation (preferred)
  • Familiarity with IEPs and assistive technology (preferred)
