Position Title: Substitute Special Education AideLocation: North Point Educational Service Center Alternative Learning Center / Sandusky, OHEmployment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-CallPay Rate: $15.92/HourAbout the RoleDedicated School Staffing is seeking reliable, compassionate, and patient Substitute Special Education Aides to support students with disabilities when regular staff are unavailable. This position helps ensure students continue receiving consistent, individualized support so they can access learning, meet IEP goals, and participate fully in the school day within a structured and supportive environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide individualized or small-group support to students with academic, behavioral, physical, or developmental needsAssist with implementation of IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications as directed by certified staffSupport student communication, social interaction, and classroom engagementAssist with personal care needs when required (e.g., mobility support, feeding, toileting) following established training and protocolsApply positive behavior support strategies and follow behavior intervention plansSupervise students across school settings including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and arrival/dismissalSupport use of assistive technology, adaptive equipment, or sensory tools as directedMaintain a calm, steady presence during behavioral or emotional escalationsDocument observations, incidents, or progress as required by staffCollaborate closely with teachers and support teams to maintain consistency and structureRequired QualificationsMust be 18 years of age or olderHigh school diploma or equivalentValid Ohio educational aide permit or applicable licensureClean criminal background checkStrong patience, communication, and teamwork skillsAbility to follow structured routines and individualized student plansAbility to safely assist students with physical needs when necessaryProfessional conduct in accordance with Ohio educator standardsPreferred QualificationsExperience working in special education or with students with disabilitiesTraining in behavior intervention, crisis de-escalation, or support strategiesFamiliarity with IEPs, adaptive tools, or assistive technologyWhat We OfferFlexible, as-needed schedulingMeaningful experience supporting diverse learner needsPotential for long-term assignment opportunitiesPathways to additional school-based positionsOptional minor medical benefitsEnrollment in School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
