About the Role Dedicated School Staffing is looking for reliable and enthusiastic Substitute Library/Media Aides to support school library and media center operations when regular staff members are absent. This position helps create an organized, welcoming environment that encourages reading, research, and appropriate technology use. The aide will assist students and staff, handle circulation duties, and provide instructional support as directed. Key Responsibilities Library & Media Center Operations Help open, organize, and maintain the library/media center during scheduled hours Handle circulation duties such as checking materials in and out, shelving books, and organizing returns Monitor student use of library spaces, computers, and equipment Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for students Student Support Provide basic assistance to students locating books, navigating the catalog, and choosing appropriate materials Help students with basic research activities, digital resources, and educational software Support individual students or groups completing library or media-related assignments Technology & Media Assistance Monitor student use of computers, tablets, printers, and other media equipment Assist with basic technical issues such as logins, printing, and accessing digital resources Set up audiovisual equipment for classes, presentations, or events as needed Instructional Support Assist with read-alouds, book discussions, and literacy activities under the direction of the teacher or librarian Prepare materials for lessons, displays, and library programs Help teachers locate and access library resources and instructional materials Administrative Tasks Prepare new library materials by labeling, stamping, covering, and organizing books as needed Maintain bulletin boards, book displays, and seasonal decorations Keep basic records, including overdue notices and inventory information Follow all school policies related to student supervision, technology, and safety Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old High school diploma or equivalent Valid educational aide permit or higher teaching license, as required by state regulations Successful completion of required criminal background checks Basic computer skills and ability to learn new technology and digital tools Strong organization and attention to detail Ability to communicate effectively and positively with students and staff Ability to lift and move books or equipment, generally up to 25 lbs Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday Compliance with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working with children or in an educational environment Familiarity with school behavior expectations and safety procedures Experience supervising or managing groups of students What We Offer Flexible scheduling Experience working in a variety of school environments Opportunities to pursue additional school-based positions Potential long-term substitute opportunities Options for minor medical benefits Enrollment in the School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
