Job Description

Overview

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is looking for a Substitute Instructional Aide to support students in Grades K-12 within a Special Education program. This role focuses on individual supervision and targeted instruction, working closely with educators to implement each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and promote student independence and confidence in various life skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver individualized supervision and targeted instruction to assigned students
  • Implement curriculum and behavioral intervention strategies aligned with each student's IEP
  • Monitor student engagement during classroom lessons
  • Track student progress against established timelines
  • Document student behaviors and communicate observations to staff
  • Assist in preparing behavioral reports and maintaining activity logs
  • Participate in school meetings and conferences as necessary
  • Respond constructively to feedback to improve instructional effectiveness
  • Perform additional duties to support a safe and structured learning environment

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred
  • Ability to obtain certification in crisis management training
  • CA state driver's license
  • Paraprofessional or teaching assistant credential preferred
  • Experience with special education and behavioral health programs
  • Skills in working with children with learning disabilities and emotional behavioral disorders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic office technology
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
