Overview

Dedicated School Staffing is seeking Substitute Food Service Workers for Reading Community City Schools in Ohio. This part-time, on-call role supports the nutrition team by ensuring that students receive safe and nutritious meals while maintaining cleanliness in the cafeteria.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and portion meals according to menus and guidelines
  • Serve food to students courteously and efficiently
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely while following food safety procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, serving lines, and cafeteria spaces
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and food preparation equipment as needed
  • Set up and break down serving stations and cafeteria lines
  • Follow district food safety, sanitation, and nutrition policies
  • Assist with stocking, organizing, and tracking food inventory and supplies
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff and school personnel to support daily operations
  • Provide positive and helpful customer service to students and staff

Required skills

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Successful completion of required background screening
  • Enrollment in Ohio ID account and Rapback program
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic understanding of food handling safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move supplies or equipment
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and strong work ethic
  • Compliance with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Previous experience in food service, cafeteria work, or customer service (preferred)
  • Familiarity with safe food handling procedures (preferred)
  • Experience operating standard kitchen equipment (preferred)
