Position Title: Substitute Educational AideLocation: Bio-Med Science Academy / Rootstown, OHEmployment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-CallPay Rate: $11.00/HourAbout the RoleDedicated School Staffing is seeking reliable, supportive, and flexible Substitute Educational Aides to assist classrooms when regular staff are unavailable. This role contributes to a positive and structured learning environment by helping students stay engaged, supporting instructional activities, and reinforcing classroom expectations across general and special education settings.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist teachers with instructional support and classroom activitiesProvide one-on-one and small-group support to students, including those with specialized learning needsImplement accommodations and modifications under the direction of certified staffHelp students with organization, transitions, and classroom participationSupervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and other school areasEncourage positive behavior and help maintain a safe, respectful environmentFollow lesson plans, behavior plans, and school safety proceduresCommunicate effectively with teachers and school staffRecord observations or report incidents as requiredRequired QualificationsMust be 18 years of age or olderHigh school diploma or equivalentValid Ohio educational aide permit or applicable licensureClean criminal background checkAbility to work with children in a calm, patient, and professional mannerStrong communication and teamwork skillsAbility to follow directions and adapt to various classroom settingsPhysical ability to assist students when neededCompliance with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio EducatorsPreferred QualificationsExperience working with children in school or childcare settingsPrior support of students with disabilitiesTraining in behavior support or de-escalation strategiesWhat We OfferFlexible, as-needed schedulingExperience in diverse classroom environmentsPotential for long-term assignment opportunitiesPossible pathways to other school-based rolesAccess to minor medical benefit optionsEnrollment in School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
