Overview

Dedicated School Staffing is looking for reliable and hardworking Substitute Cleaners/Custodians for Lakewood City Schools. This part-time, on-call role is vital for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students and staff in the schools.

Key responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust assigned areas
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners as needed
  • Assist with cafeteria cleanup, including wiping tables and maintaining floors
  • Perform light maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs or restocking supplies
  • Set up and break down rooms for school events or activities when required
  • Ensure proper and safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or damages to supervisors
  • Follow district cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and daily schedules
  • Work collaboratively with custodial staff and school personnel

Required skills

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Clean criminal background check required
  • Obtain an Ohio ID account and complete enrollment in the Ohio rapback program
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, standing, and moving equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness standards
  • Dependability, punctuality, and a professional work ethic
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
  • Adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous custodial, janitorial, or maintenance experience preferred
  • Familiarity with cleaning tools, equipment, and safe chemical handling practices
  • Experience working in school or institutional environments
