Overview

SmartStart Education, LLC is seeking a Student Supervision and Safety Monitor to support a high school in the Bronx, NY. This role focuses on ensuring student safety and appropriate behavior in various school environments while providing support during class transitions and lunch supervision.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, and common areas for student behavior and safety
  • Support student movement during class transitions
  • Assist with lunch supervision to maintain an orderly environment
  • Address behavior concerns using redirection and de-escalation strategies
  • Intervene in conflicts and assist in breaking up altercations
  • Communicate incidents and concerns to administrators
  • Build positive rapport with students
  • Provide general support to administrators and staff as needed

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 6 months of experience in a student support or advising role
  • Understanding of challenges faced by urban students and communities
  • Genuine passion for fostering student success
  • Exemplary punctuality and adherence to schedules
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to commute to the designated location
  • Ability to navigate a school environment
