Job Description

Overview

As an Engineering Student Intern/Co-Op at Daniel Defense, you will gain practical experience in various engineering disciplines including Research & Development, Design, and Manufacturing. The role focuses on contributing to projects that improve product performance and manufacturing efficiency while adhering to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Demonstrate commitment to environmental health and safety principles
  • Aid in the New Product Stage/Gate Process
  • Assist in the design, prototyping, and testing of firearms
  • Develop technical data packages including CAD models and 2D drawings
  • Maintain work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Contribute to cost estimates, risk assessments, and design reviews
  • Create and execute test procedures for new technologies
  • Provide technical support to sales and marketing on new products
  • Work with manufacturing to design efficient solutions
  • Participate in fixture and gage design for inspection of parts
  • Collaborate to create and implement operating procedures
  • Assist in resolving system malfunctions
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in Safety, Quality, and Productivity

Required skills

  • Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering major (minimum GPA of 2.75)
  • 1 year of related experience or training (or equivalent education)
  • Experience in SolidWorks (3D modeling required)
  • Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Exposure to Finite Element Analysis preferred
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fixtures, and gaging systems
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to manage tasks under deadlines
  • Self-motivated independent worker
  • Firearm experience is a plus but not required
