Overview

Cannon Corp is looking for a Structural Principal Engineer to join their team in Irvine, California. This role involves leading project teams, managing client relationships, ensuring successful project execution, and mentoring engineering staff within a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead structural design efforts and manage project teams
  • Develop design fee estimates and proposals
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships
  • Conduct business development activities and secure new opportunities
  • Analyze complex structural engineering challenges and develop solutions
  • Oversee preparation of construction documents and quality assurance
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to project engineers and design staff
  • Communicate effectively with various departments and agencies

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural or Civil Engineering
  • Active California Structural Engineer (SE) license
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in structural analysis, design, and detailing
  • Minimum 8 years of project management experience
  • Minimum 3 years managing engineering teams
  • Knowledge of California Building Code and ASCE 7
  • Experience with timber, concrete, steel, and masonry design
  • Proficiency in RISA, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, AutoCAD, or Revit
  • Strong business development and client relationship management skills
