Overview

The Structural Mechanic 2 at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Savannah, Georgia, plays a critical role in performing various structural assembly operations within a team-oriented environment. This position requires compliance with established operating procedures and design specifications to ensure high-quality assembly of aircraft components.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Safely conduct sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation on aircraft.
  • Rivet structural assemblies and parts using required tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and operation sheets to determine assembly procedures.
  • Check all work for defects prior to final inspection.
  • Maintain logs and records related to the assembly process.
  • Align and assemble parts using jigs, holding fixtures, and fasteners.
  • Make repairs and rework as necessary to meet conformity standards.
  • Support the company 5S Program and comply with safety regulations.
  • Participate in turn-over reports and maintain communication with leadership.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of related structural assembly experience
  • Prior aircraft experience preferred
  • Experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints and operation sheets
  • Basic computer skills and shop math skills
  • Skills in fastener removal without damaging structure
  • Capability to work with composite resins and materials
  • Good housekeeping and safety practices
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in restricted areas
  • Strong attention to detail and professional attitude
  • Effective communication skills in English
