Job Description

Overview

The Structural Mechanic 2 at Gulfstream Aerospace in St. Louis is responsible for various structural assembly operations within a production environment. This role involves working with minimal supervision to ensure that structural components are assembled accurately and meet quality standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Safely perform assembly and fitting of parts and structures, including drilling and riveting operations.
  • Conduct sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation of components on aircraft.
  • Read work orders, blueprints, and operation sheets to determine the sequence of operations.
  • Check work to ensure defective-free assembly prior to final inspection.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of work performed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and support Lean Activities.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years related structural assembly experience
  • Experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Basic computer skills and shop math skills
  • Mechanical aptitude and team collaboration
  • Experience with drilling, riveting, and sheet metal fabrication
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in small spaces or restricted areas
