Job Description

Overview

Metromont is seeking a Structural Engineer to join their team in Winchester, Virginia. This role focuses on the cost-efficient design of precast concrete systems and involves collaborating with various teams to ensure project success. With nearly a century of experience in the precast concrete industry, Metromont values partnership and innovation in their work.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations and details for precast concrete products and connections
  • Independently manage engineering design aspects of projects
  • Review contract documents to understand project requirements
  • Attend project meetings and potentially lead coordination meetings
  • Write and review requests for information (RFI)
  • Resolve engineering design issues independently and assist others as needed
  • Check calculations and designs for accuracy and adherence to standards
  • Ensure designs and standards are followed in erection drawings and shop tickets
  • Become licensed in states where work is performed and review drawings as required
  • Evaluate design costs against estimates and take appropriate actions
  • Adhere to Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations

Required skills

  • BS in Civil Engineering required, structural emphasis preferred
  • PE Certification required
  • 3-7 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience with engineering design software preferred
  • Strong work ethic and dependability
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Analytical thinker with problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and organized
