Job Description

Overview

Wegmans is seeking a Store Security Specialist for its New York location to ensure the safety of customers and employees. This part-time role involves monitoring store activity, managing relationships within the store and with community partners, and preventing loss through various security measures.

Key responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety to create a positive shopping and working environment
  • Analyze trends and data to minimize theft and maximize sales
  • Monitor activity and apprehend shoplifters
  • Foster relationships with community partners and emergency responders
  • Coordinate and manage Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) systems
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide support to employees and customers
  • Conduct investigations as directed by leadership

Required skills

  • 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer
  • HR218/LEOSA credentials
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgment and ability to manage conflict under pressure
  • Technical aptitude, including proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field (preferred)
  • Related experience in security or loss prevention (preferred)
  • Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or First Responder experience (preferred)
  • Leadership experience in a retail setting (preferred)
