Job Description

Overview

Matrec, a division of GFL, is looking for a Human Resources Intern in Montréal, Quebec. This temporary position offers a great opportunity for students to gain practical experience while supporting the HR team and understanding labor laws in Quebec.

Key responsibilities

  • Participate in the onboarding process for new employees
  • Assist in projects aimed at enhancing employee and manager experience
  • Maintain employee records in the HR information system (Workday) while ensuring confidentiality
  • Provide support to employees and managers
  • Collaborate with HR expertise centers (recruitment, compensation, benefits, etc.) for quality service delivery
  • Help organize internal events (recognition activities, team building)
  • Update internal policies, employee handbook, and job descriptions
  • Conduct basic research in labor law to support the team

Required skills

  • Studying for a bachelor's degree, certificate, or diploma in human resources, industrial relations, administration, or a
  • Excellent oral and written French skills and good English proficiency
  • Basic understanding of labor laws in Quebec
  • Proficiency in Workday
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to learn new software
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential data
