Overview

Matrec, a division of GFL, is looking for a Human Resources Intern to join their team in Terrebonne, Quebec. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various HR functions while contributing to environmentally sustainable solutions. The position is temporary and under the supervision of the HR Director, focusing on supporting HR operations and enhancing employee experiences.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing new employee files and onboarding processes
  • Participate in projects to improve employee and manager experiences
  • Maintain employee records in the HR information system (Workday) with confidentiality
  • Provide support to employees and managers
  • Collaborate with HR centers of expertise to ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Help organize internal events (recognition activities, team building)
  • Update internal policies, employee manuals, and job descriptions
  • Conduct research on labor laws to support the HR team

Required skills

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or related qualifications in Human Resources or Administration
  • Excellent proficiency in French and good knowledge of English
  • Basic understanding of labor laws in Quebec
  • Proficiency in Workday
  • Strong skills in Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to learn new software quickly
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential data
