Overview

Matrec, a division of GFL, is seeking a Human Resources Intern to support their HR team in Quebec and Eastern Ontario. This temporary role is ideal for a student looking to gain practical experience in human resources and labor law while contributing to environmentally sustainable practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing employee onboarding documentation and processes
  • Participate in projects to enhance employee and manager experience
  • Maintain employee records in the HR information system while ensuring confidentiality
  • Provide support to employees and managers
  • Collaborate with HR expertise centers to ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Help organize internal events (recognition activities, team-building)
  • Assist in updating internal policies, employee manual, and job descriptions
  • Conduct small research on labor law to support the team

Required skills

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree, certificate, or diploma in human resources, industrial relations, administration, or a rel
  • Excellent French language skills and good knowledge of English
  • Basic understanding of labor laws in Quebec
  • Proficient in Workday
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to learn new software quickly
  • High level of discretion and professionalism with confidential data
